Da 'Burgh!

Well, I thought I made it clear in my last post that you could leave my birthday presents at my mom's house in Pryor or send them to my new house in Cushing. I can only specuate that EVERYONE either lost my new address or doesn't know where my mom lives.... problem solved, I will be in Pryor on the 18th of November so you can shower me with gifts then! :)

Well last month did live up to its hype as being the greatest month of the year. I celebrated my 28th birthday with my students and church family. I can't say it enough times how God has blessed me by bring me to Cushing.

Todd and I just got back from Pittsburgh, PA, we went to the National Youth Workers Convention. It was absolutely awesome! I got a chance to hear some great speakers, praise my God with the help of some amazing musicians, and hang-out with a good friend. It was a much needed trip, not only to relax but to get some new ideas and challeneges for myself and ministry.

I've got a busy rest of the month: Revival w/ Bailey Smith, D-Now @ FBC Pryor, and Thanksgiving (TBD).  Hope everyone is doing great, I will leave you with a few pics from October and Pittsburgh. And a very special treat for all of you dancers.

Until next time,

JC

Here is the cake that my students surprised me with on Wednesday night. I guess they thought it would be funny to put a clown and spiders on my cake. ha.....ha.
Here is a gift that one of my students gave me, she said it took her 4 hours to draw it. It is a picture of Jack Bauer from 24 and me, but I told her that looks nothing like me it looks more like Mac Powell from Third Day. I guess he is my long lost brother, who knew we looked so much alike?
Don't worry, having the face of the clown  on a piece of cake didn't stop me from eating it. I tore it up like a champ, fears move to the side when there are sweets involved.
This is a sandwich from Primanti Bros. in Pittsburgh. It was alright, not as good as the hype surounding it. Their big deal is that they put French Fries and Coleslaw in the sandwich.
Todd, Me, & DCB in the background.
DC playing the modified Guitar Hero guitar.
David Crowder and myself, I didn't realize how tall he was, he is probably 6'3" but the hair makes him every bit of 6'5".

I have a great video, but I am having trouble uploading it. I promise I will get it on here as soon as possible.

The Burger Station

Welcome to the greatest month of the year!!!! As of right now there are only 10 days, 13 hours and 30 minutes until my birthday! Everyone can mail me presents to my new house in Cushing or just drop them off at my parents house in Pryor. This month has already been an exciting one.

Last week my good friend Wes and I went to Winfield, KS for our college's homecoming festivities. Honestly the thing we were looking forward to the most was going and eating at our old stomping ground, The Burger Station. Myself, Wes, and 5 other SC football players frequented this place every Friday for almost 3 years. you know you are a regular when your exact order is almost done when you pull up. I truly believe Wes and I were more excited about eating at the Burger Station than seeing old college teammates. Well I must say we were not disappointed the burger was as greasy and good as it has ever been. THE BEST Chili Cheeseburger in the world!! As for the SC football game, well the Builders are off to a rocky start this year at 0-5, it may take a little bit but I am sure they will be back to their winning ways soon.

This is it, walk in walk out, that is all there is room for.

The Double Chili Cheese Burger w/ everything(fried onions, pickles, & mustard).

Oh so good!!
'The 77'
Everyone always asks why we are the Moundbuilders, well here it is 'The Mound' at Southwestern College. The tradition started a long time ago when students, organizations, and athletic teams would paint rocks and place them on a mound, therefore they became known as moundbuilders

I also got a chance to go back to Pryor earlier this month and I couldn't pass a chance on posting a pic of two of the cutest girls I know.

I hope everyone is doing well, the next post will probably have pics and stories from my and Todd's trip to Pittsburgh. Take care and come see me! Until next time.

Canada's Got Talent!

HOLY CRAP!!!! My good friend Todd sent me 2 videos today via email, and I just felt like sharing them with all of my faithful followers.

This first band may throw you off a little bit, at first thought you might be thinking what is a group of sexual predators doing in the same room together, but that is not the case. This is the early 80's Canadian Ska band SONSEED performing their first and probably only hit 'Jesus Is My Friend'. Please pay close attention to the guitar player, I don't think he is wearing any shoes, and then in the back behind the piano is a bald guy that looks like a major creeper. And next to him is a lady.....nope I'm not going to say it, Jesus please forgive me....... ENJOY!!!

This next video totally blew my mind!! Okay, think....... Justin Timberlake & the Judds meet Carmen and this video will make perfect sense. I thought for a minute, wow how long has it been since this was recorded.....it's copyrighted in 2007. This must be from Canada too, only our neighbors to the north can get away with something that horrible. ENJOY!!!

(Okay, I just found this out.....the above video if from The Way International, a.k.a. Cultville U.S.A. so that pretty much explains those moves)

Hope all is well. Until next time.

September Already!?!?!?!

First off, I apologize to all my adoring fans who have been sitting at home and waiting patiently this last month for me to write a new blog. A lot has happened since my last blog. School has officially started, and with that it means lunch with students, football games, softball games, and much more. It gets kinda hectic trying to manage 6 different schools and a group of home schooled students. But I wouldn't trade it for anything, I have an amazing group of students here at Oak Grove, and it is amazing to watch them grow.

A couple weeks ago we had a huge outreach at the park in Drumright. We estimate we had nearly 700-800 people come to the park to enjoy free food, prizes, and games. The awesome thing is that they heard the gospel as well. We had Richard Hight, the chalk artist, come and work his magic. He did a chalk drawing of Jesus and then finished the night with a sculpture of Jesus which afterwards he told the story of Jesus. There were about 10-15 people who came forward to accept Christ...it was awesome. Even better we did a great job of getting information from all the people that showed up and were able to go and talk to them personally at their home.

Here is a picture that Richard Hight did at Edison Middle School in Drumright.

This past weekend I attended my first football game in Norman. A family that attends my church had an extra ticket and invited me to come along, and how could I say no! It was pretty cool, I have been to many football games and even a few OU football games, but nothing can compare to an OU game in Norman.

Well once again Fantasy Football is here again, and this year I had the privilege of selecting 1st!!! And with my 1st selection I chose 'Captain Butt Chin' himself Tom Brady. I thought long and hard about this and decided to go with Brady because of the season he had last year. BOY DID I BLOW IT!!!! Or maybe I should say he (Tom Brady) blew it, his left knee to be exact! He is out for the whole 2008 season. 1st Draft Pick scored me a total of 3 points for the whole season, way to go!!!

So now I am in the process of finding a new QB, but on a positive note, the rest of my team did great and helped me to smash my division rival Justwannawin, 89-62. Not bad for only getting 3 points out of my QB (my opponent had some key injuries as well, but this isn't his blog so I'm not going to talk about them!).

Well I hope everyone is doing great, I truly do miss everyone. If you are ever in the area or just feel like getting out and driving, come on over to Cushing and pay me a visit. Until next time.

Pa

Well it was been a good couple of weeks since my last post. I got to officiate the wedding of one of my dearest friends, Greg Kiersey. We played golf on Friday and Saturday, let me tell ya, it was HOTT!!!! I was completely drenched in sweat 30 minutes into it, but had a great time playing with Todd and David on Friday, and Victor on Saturday. I wish I could have stayed for the reception a little longer, but if I had it would have made for a super long day on Sunday.

This week I also got to take care of Blake, my pastor's son, while he and his wife were in Nashville. We had a blast all week, we watched TV and played NCAA 2009 for PS2, what more could a youth pastor and teenage boy want. Taking care of him taught me a good lesson, I don't think I am ready to handle a teenager full time at home.

On a sad note, my best friend's grandpa went on to glory this week. He had been struggling for a while with cancer and an aneurysm in his stomach. As much of a relief it is to the family, he will be truly missed by myself and all of his family. Pa, had been my grandpa for the last 14 years and I have some very fond memories with him and Victor. Even though I will miss him greatly there isn't anything I would do to take him away from what he is experiencing now. Love ya Pa.

Until next time.

Falls Creek

One word. Awesome! Just got back from an amazing week at The Creek. It is so great to see how God works. I can't say it enough, I am at an amazing church with some amazing students. There were 3 students who accepted Christ as their Lord & Savior, 1 who rededicated, 5 who feel a call to missions, and 1 who feels a call to full time ministry. It was an awesome, awesome week. Here are some of the pics, I had trouble uploading them, so if you want to see more log on to my facebook account.

Carl Gaines, he did an amazing job leading worship in our cabin during the week.

Todd Sanders and some students playing a game, they had to beat on the boxes with hangers to answer, it was pretty funny.

Me and Carl after tabernacle Monday night.

I started out the week leading worship, the students booed me off the stage, luckily Carl was there to save me.

Fascinating game, you put a tennis ball in pany-hose then put the panty-hose and chase people and try to hit them with the tennis ball. Oak Grove traditional game, pretty funny to watch.

This is what I look like with panty-hose on my head, I think I look quite charming. I think I was trying to smile.

Some of you may be thinking, 'Jarvis is finally over his fear of clowns!' Wrong!!!! I had to go change my shorts after this picture, but I took this picture to show all of you doubters (TODD FANNIN) that I am not a big chicken.

I hope everyone is doing well, until next time.

I'm a bad Blogger!!

I hope this post finds everyone doing well. First a quick shout out to my lil' sis on her 20th birthday!!! woot woot!! (<--- I really don't know what that was, but it is kinda funny.) I sent Jessica the funniest birthday card I have ever seen, so you will have to make sure to ask her about it when she gets it in a couple of days.

This past weekend I traveled down to Falls Creek to spend some time with Jessica and my peeps from P-Creek. It was awesome to get to hang out with two of my best friends, Todd & Kenny, and see Aimee (<--- Shout Out!!) Colter & KennyG. And the rest of the folks from Pryor. It reminded me of how much I miss seeing everyone that I once saw on a daily basis, good times good times.

Things are still going great here in the land of Cush. I leave next Monday with my students to spend a week at the Creek. I am really looking forward to what God has in store for us. We have maxed out the capacity of the girls side, so it will be intresting to see how 40 girls will share 3 showers. And on the other side it will be interesting to see if 20 boys will USE the showers.
Well I guess that is it for this post, I promise when I get a new camera I will post more often.
Until next time.
